IHS Epidemiology Program Center Cooperative Agreements

The Indian Health Service (IHS) is soliciting applications, via the attached June 8, 2011, FEDERAL REGISTER notice, for cooperative agreements for twelve tribal epidemiology centers. Eligible applicants are tribes, tribal organizations, intertribal consortia, urban Indian organizations and the twelve currently funded Tribal Epidemiological Centers (Centers).

FY 2011 funding is $4.5 million (approximately $500,000 below the FY 2010 level), and the average award ranges from $350,000 to $1,000,000 annually, depending on the application score and the size of the population to be served. The project period is five years with annual funding depending on available appropriations. Applications are due by July15, 2011.

The Centers must each serve at least 60,000 persons and are funded according to IHS region. The Centers support IHS/tribal/urban Indian health programs with activities including disease surveillance, research, prevention and control of disease, assessment of program effectiveness, collection and management of data, and coordination with other public health organizations.
